Hardwood floors have been widely used for hundreds of years. The advances in technology have made them extremely popular in recent years and make a beautiful alternative to tile, vinyl, and even carpet. The beauty and warmth of natural wood includes knots and grain/shade variations which are not defects, but natural characteristics of hardwood that make each floor unique and distinct. Such variations add to the richness of color and texture on your floor and different stains and finishes also effect color variation. All woods change color. This is due to its exposure to UV light. This is a natural characteristic of wood. Keep in mind that some species of wood are much harder than others, though all wood may scratch and dent regardless of the finish that you choose. Water, sand, stones in shoes and animal claws are just a few things that may affect your floor’s performance. Discuss with your salesperson how this may affect you.
Prefinished Hardwood flooring is available in a wide selection of widths, finishes, and wood species. The major advantage to a prefinished hardwood floor is the robust factory finish applied. It is typically a quicker install since there is no need to wait for stain and urethane to dry. Today there are many styles with varing plank widths to choose from in a variety of great colors.

Hardwood flooring comes in plank, strip, and parquet. Plank floors typically make use of boards that are between 3"-8" in width. Strip is flooring where the boards are typically under 3" wide. One is not "better" than the other.
Engineered hardwood is versatile and can be installed in most areas of your home. Composed of genuine wood, engineered hardwood is made with a core of hardwood or plywood with a layer of hardwood veneer affixed to the top surface. It’s more resistant to moisture and heat compared to solid hardwood and it is less likely to buckle, gap, or react to fluctuations in humidity and temperature. You can install engineered flooring on any level, including below ground. It's a great choice for finished basements and bathrooms.
Solid hardwood floors are made from solid wood. Each board of solid hardwood flooring is made from a single piece of hardwood that’s about 3/4 of an inch thick. Because it’s so thick it can be sanded down and refinished. Solid hardwood expands and contracts in reaction to changes in moisture and temperature so solid wood floors are only recommended for rooms at ground level or above. Solid hardwood is permanently nailed to the subfloor.
Unfinished Hardwood adds unsurpassed warmth and beauty to any room.
